Hotel Santa Maria

Hotel Santa Maria is undoubtedly the best place to stay in Santa Maria Island.

The hotel is just ground floor, keeping some of the traditional traces of the local architecture, with 50 rooms divided in two wings connected by the central building.

Rooms are spacey, with private bath, air conditioning, TV and direct phone. There are also two suites that besides the bedroom and bath also have a living room with a sofa. All rooms have a small balcony facing the well kept garden and half the rooms also have a pool view.

At the main building you will find the front desk, the restaurant, a conference room, pool table and a big lounge with an interior garden facing the bar.

You will have Wi-Fi in all public areas to use your own computer, but if you need, there is a computer next to the front desk and paid internet is available in your room.

Meals are served at the restaurant. Breakfast is buffet and fits most people needs, but if you need eggs and bacon, for instance, and can’t find them at the buffet, they will happily cook it especially for you. For lunch and dinner there is usually a delicious “today’s special” and an international cuisine menu to choose from.

The pool is a nice and peaceful place to relax and has a children shallow area. There is also a double tennis court to keep up in good shape.

From reception desk to the manager, the restaurant staff and even housekeeping staff, you can only expect to find kind and helpful people at Santa Maria Hotel.

The hotel is only one kilometre from Santa Maria International Airport and they can arrange free arrival and departure transfers upon request. It is approximately 3 miles distant from Vila do Porto town centre, about 15 minutes walking.To get to town or other places in the island, you can call a taxi, rent a car or take the bus in the stop next to the hotel.
